I could RMA it again, and try my luck at another one, but I have little faith after reading about others with a similar problems. I just got a replacement camera today, and it exhibits the same problem. NewEgg service offered to RMA it, and I did this, returning it at my expense. This persistent sound makes the microphone function unusable. I purchased this camera from and it exhibited a clicking sound on the microphone. Overall Review: This is the letter I sent to Microsoft. If there were an option for zero eggs, I would have selected it. This is not an isolated incident, this is a flaw in the design of this camera. *PLEASE* Think twice about purchasing this camera if you intend to use the microphone. I've decided to try and work with Microsoft directly and see how that goes. I rec'vd my replacement camera today, and surprise! It had the same audio issue. On the positive side, I can state that this works fairly as a webcam.Ĭons: I RMA'ed my earlier camera (see previous review) and Newegg support was as always, STELLAR. Good luck.Pros: This is a follow-up review to my earlier review. This whole thing has been frustrating and I hope this bit of information proves helpful even though you have a different LifeCam model.
I will mention that the LifeCam software told me there were updates to the drivers so I took the chance and updated and installed them. I plugged it in as the installation directed me to do and the plug and play installed like you would expect it to. I made sure before beginning the installation that my LifeCam was not connected. For lack of a better idea I ran it and it successfully installed. On a whim I noticed another executable in the zip called setupstb.exe. After unzipping it and attempting to run the setup.exe I ran into my same problem mentioned above. I happen to stumble on this driver pack: ICE1_2.zip that I downloaded from.
I would get a message saying either my disk was full (it was not) or that an unknown error occurred.
